B.C. Filmmaker embarks on a film to help save the last herd of elephants in China

Patricia Sims
As filmmaker and writer, Patricia has a passion for large-brained megafauna. Her quest to understand the sentience in nature has led her around the globe in pursuit of the issues that threaten the balance of the natural world. She explores the interrelationships between humans and animals and the conservation challenges that modern and traditional societies face in stories that seek to unravel the mystery and beauty of life as we know it.

Patricia teams up with three interesting and perhaps unusual partners:

"Zo" Michael Clark
As technology activist, creative director and editor, Zo has employed his many talents to portray the interconnectivity of life on this planet. His mission is to use digital and traditional media to inspire awareness, awe and action for a mirthful, sustainable future.

Robert Bateman
As a master artist, Bob is a conservation activist with a paintbrush whose creations remind us of all that we are losing. He has dedicated his life and work to the protection of wildlife through art that speaks to the wildness within all of us. An ardent supporter of the need to connect young people with the natural world, Bob’s paintings teach us about the importance of preserving nature for our children and grandchildren, and future generations.

Kamala
Born in Sri Lanka, Kamala is a 33-year old Asian elephant who was orphaned at the age of six months and rescued from the bottom of a well. In 1976 she was adopted by the Calgary Zoo where she still lives today. As one of the world’s first painting pachyderms, for years Kamala has created paintings that sell worldwide, which help to generate funds and awareness for wild elephant conservation.
